Craig Albert, CFA, is a partner and portfolio manager of Sheffield Asset Management, L.L.C., a Chicago-based investment management firm focused on equity long/short investing. Sheffield utilizes a deep value, reversion-to- mean, contrarian approach to investing and conducts rigorous fundamental analysis. Sheffield invests primarily in equities in North America, Western Europe and Australia.
Prior to joining Sheffield in 2004, Craig was a partner at The Ospraie Fund, a $1.2 billion hedge fund investing in long/short equity and commodities strategies. In particular, he covered food, beverage, agribusiness, utilities and oil and gas stocks, on a global basis and researched investment ideas in a variety of commodities. Before Ospraie, Mr. Albert was the senior research analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein Co., responsible for packaged food stocks.
Craig graduated with high honors from Lehigh University in 1991 with degrees in economics and international relations. He received his J.D. in 1994 from the New York University School of Law followed by two years practicing corporate law, first at Dewey Ballantine and then at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton Garrison. He is a CFA charterholder and also a member of the Board of Directors for the Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School.
